Five months today. The other day, someone asked Robert how old Katie was, and he said, "Six months." He didn't believe me when I corrected him and said that she wasn't even five months old yet. Even after I reminded him of her birthday, he asked if I didn't get March mixed up with May. Yes, I may have pregnancy/newborn brain, but I think I remember what month my daughter was born in!
A corner of her bottom left tooth poked through a few days ago. She's been drooling forever, but now we can finally say it's because she's teething. Teething is the greatest diagnosis for any syptom. Drooling? Teething. Grouchy? Teething. Not sleeping? Teething. Crying? Teething. Rash? Teething. And the best part is, it lasts for two years, so babies always have a built-in excuse for any misbehaviour.
And misbehaving, she has been. She always wants to be held, preferably by Mommy, although she laughs most at Michael and smiles most at Daddy. Every since she got that tooth she's been waking up at 4am to eat. She was doing so well. It had been almost a month this time that she was sleeping through the night, and then she goes and ruins it all. She has also been really bad about going down for her naps. (Of course, today she was an angel - she must have known that I was going to blog about it.)
Her favourite thing to do now is grab my hair with both fists. I am going to be bald within a few months if this continues. I always give her a firm, "No" and yank my hair out of her clutches, but she has yet to get the message. It's even worse when I have it pulled up, because then she grabs the little wisps of hair and yanks and that hurts even more.
She's lucky she's so adorable. Oh, and Robert did actually get Michael's blog up and running. It's at www.michael.hurdman.com
