Oops

You can tell the blog is way overdue when I try to find the link on the pulldown menu and it's not even there anymore because I haven't been here in FOREVER! Well, it seems like forever in baby time. I mean, a month is more than 20% of her entire life!

So, let me think about what has happened since my birthday. Michael started Kindergarten. He loves it. We've decided that Michael should have his own blog now because he just has so many stories to tell. We'll see when that one gets started...

Katie had her second set of shots on September 2nd. She weighed almost 18lbs (8.10kgs) and was 27 inches long. Still off the charts, but perfect weight for her height. It was scheduled for the same day that Jeremy started playschool ("library school") with grandma, and Michael was in school, so I took her all by myself. Of course, she slept for eight hours the night before so I couldn't even complain to the nurse about what a bad sleeper she was! She just smiled and cooed at the nurse the whole time. She even smiled after the first shot! She whimpered after the second, and started crying after the third, but quieted within a few seconds. She has got to be the happiest little girl ever.

That eight hour night was not repeated and she was still getting up multiple times a night when we went to my parent's house the night before Labour Day. That night she was up three times. I was not impressed. On Labour Day, we went to Lake Minnewaka and had a lot of fun. It was a gorgeous day and the boys loved throwing rocks in the lake and climbing all over the place. They even went over some stepping stones to get to a little island (but of course fell in and got their socks and shoes wet!). Katie was very good the whole time. She loves being outside, as long as she's being held. That night, she tried getting up at 11pm again to feed, and I sent Robert in to tell her to forget it. I guess she got the message, because she then slept all the way until 6am. The cat was out of the bag. She was perfectly capable of sleeping through the night!

The next night, I fed her at 6:50pm and then rushed to the school council meeting (arriving fifteen minutes late). It dragged on and I volunteered to be the new chairperson just to keep things moving along (no one else volunteered even after they had formally asked twice). I rushed home at 10pm, sure that she would be screaming bloody murder because she was starving, but Robert said she went down at 8pm and slept the whole time. I didn't wake her up and she slept all the way until 6am again!

Lately, she's been going to sleep around 7:30pm and getting up at 6am. I would prefer another hour on both of those times, but I'm not complaining too much. Robert and I are actually going on a date tomorrow without any of the kids because she goes down so early that we can go out after she goes to bed. (We tried to remember the last time we went on a date without any of the kids, and couldn't remember. It must have been before Katie was born. Maybe when we went to Banff together?)

She's become very interested in food. Everytime I hold her and eat or drink, she always tries to grab for it and watches me intently. Last Saturday, we were at Bowness Park and my dad had bought me a package of Nibs and we were eating some. Robert had the brilliant idea of giving her one to hold and suck on with her thumb. She LOVED it and screamed her guts out when we finally took it away. She was not impressed with us.

Yesterday, we were at Robert's parent's and gave her an apple slice to chew on. She loved that as well. The problem was that she drooled so much all over it that it was impossible to hold and she would scream whenever it slipped out of her hand or our hands. We then took pity on her and tried feeding her some mashed up banana. She doesn't know how to swallow from a spoon yet and it would go in, then come out, then I'd scoop it back in, she'd spit it back out, in, out, in, out, until finally about half would end up in her while the other half was on her bib. She loved it though and got really mad when I was too frustrated to continue. Today, her poop was full of banana.

Today my Facebook status read: Trina McIntyre Hurdman has the cutest little cutie cute who ever was cute.
